Things to do

Take a paddling trip across the creek from Berrara at low tide to the Cudmirrah Nature Reserve Beach. Explore kilometres of wild bushland or head to the southern end of the beach and take a swim in one of the alluring mermaid pools near Berrara.

Looking for some fun on the water? Sussex Inlet is built around a system of tidal canals, offering a range of water sports for all ages. Drop in a line for a relaxed day of fishing, take a kayak out into the ocean or rent a surfboard and hit the beach.

Rent a bicycle and embark on the Walter Hood ride from Cudmirrah in Conjola National Park. Pack a lunch and break at the Monument Beach picnic area, enjoy views of swamp and red-necked wallabies along the way and if you’re not tired when you reach your destination, return via the Heath circuit for a scenic ride.

Sussex Inlet is known for its two beautiful beaches, Berrara Beach and Cudmirrah Beach. Berrara Beach offers excellent reef breaks for surfing and a protected area for swimming, while Cudmirrah Beach is known for its beach breaks. Both provide a long expanse of white sands for lounging under the sun.

Getting around

Jervis Bay Airport is about 10 kilometres east of Sussex Inlet, serving as the area’s primary gateway. The Shoal Bus offers direct public bus transit from Nowra to Sussex. The best way of getting around the area is by car or taxi.
