While most people associate the state with pool parties and penthouses, the name is actually drawn from the Spanish word Nevada which means “snow-covered” in English. It’s a fitting name, given the fact that Nevada is the USA’s most mountainous state. In fact, it’s home to more than 150 individual mountain ranges, including Sierra Nevada, Santa Rosa, Battle, Monitor, Toiyabe and Schell Creek.
