Where to stay in Lazarevskoye

About Lazarevskoye

Overlooking the Black Sea, Lazarevskoye is a popular Russian resort town famed for its beaches, water parks and dolphinarium. It was founded in 1869 on the site of the Lazarevskoye Fortress and evolved as a beachside getaway in the early 20th century before officially merging with the city of Sochi in 1961.

Things to do

If you’re interested in the region’s cultural heritage, pay a visit to the Ethnographic Museum where traditional costumes and everyday objects are on display. It’s a short stroll from the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a bright blue Orthodox house of worship that’s topped by a gilded dome.

Travelling with kids? Lazarevskoye is home to two water parks where they can cool off in the summer months, including the swimming pools and lazy river of Morskaya Zvezda. They’ll also love the amusement rides of Park Kul'tury I Otdykha, which is home to a huge Ferris wheel offering elevated views across the Black Sea.

Nature-lovers shouldn’t miss a visit to the 33 Vodopada, a forested mountain valley that lies a short drive south-east of Lazarevskoye. Follow the boardwalks that lead to the park’s 33 picturesque waterfalls, some of which feature swimming pools at the base where you can refresh.

Getting around

Lazarevskoye is around 1.5 hours’ drive from Sochi and Sochi International Airport, which has flights to destinations across Russia, Central Asia and the Middle East. Trains connect from Sochi to the Lazarevskaya railway station, while buses travel throughout Lazarevskoye. Having your own vehicle is the most convenient way of exploring the region.
