Positioned near the Upper Pierce and Upper Seletar reservoirs, Bukit Panjang is home to a wealth of natural attractions. This metropolitan town is also filled with high rises, multiple shopping malls and a range of hawker centres and fine-dining restaurants.
Things to do
Begin your Bukit Panjang holiday around the Bt Panjang Market shopping mall, which has a range of beauty and fashion stores, as well as a giant supermarket with exotic foods. Around the shopping mall, you’ll find the elaborate Bak Sua Siah Boo Temple and the Masjid Al-Iman mosque.
Want to indulge in some local flavours? Make a beeline for Bukit Panjang Plaza, which pairs Eastern restaurants and cafes with budget-friendly department stores. Go for casual Singaporean cuisine at Streats, delicious ramen at Wang Cafe or authentic Indonesian fare at Punggol Nasi Padang. Treat yourself afterwards to some soft-serve ice cream at Milk and Honey.
The nearby Pang Sua Pond is perfect for a leisurely stroll or picnic, while Zhenghua Park’s forested walking trails are excellent for immersing yourself in local nature. However, for some of the best flora and fauna in Singapore, head to Dairy Farm Nature Park, home to an educational centre, bicycling and walking trails and numerous species of dragonfly.
If you’ve got enough time, venture outside of Bukit Panjang to experience even more of Singapore, such as the family-friendly thrill rides at Universal Studios Singapore on Sentosa Island, only a 30-minute train ride away. You can also drive 20 minutes to Jelutong Tower, which offers 360-degree views of Singapore’s verdant reserves.
Bukit Panjang is positioned close to Singapore’s two major highways and also boasts SMRT Buses, a Light Rail Transit system and a relatively new MRT station, giving you multiple options for getting around and reaching other towns further afield. You can also hire a car and navigate the streets yourself.
