Where to stay near Bronx Zoo

About Bronx Zoo

Located in New York City, the Bronx Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the United States and hosts more than two million visitors every year. It sits within Bronx Park, spanning about 107 hectares and filled with natural habitats divided by the Bronx River.

The zoo comprises several themed zoos housing more than 4,000 animals from hundreds of species. In the World of Birds and World of Reptiles, you can view living and taxidermy extinct species, while the Children’s Zoo offers a chance to meet donkeys, goats and sheep.

The African Plains and Congo Gorilla Forest exhibits showcase gorillas, Grevy's zebras, spotted hyenas, giraffes and gazelles, while JungleWorld boasts a simulated Asian jungle home to ebony langurs. Check out the on-site aquarium, then join a guided tour for animal feedings and a chance to learn about the zoo’s conservation efforts.

Getting There

The zoo sits on Southern Boulevard in the Bronx, with parking in two main lots. Public buses stop near both entrances. You can also use subway trains 2 or 5 to East Tremont Ave/West Farms Square, which is about 2.5 blocks from the Asia/Gate A entrance of the zoo.
