This is by far the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at. From the moment you check-in and receive a mint towel and fresh lei, you are treated like royalty. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The property is intimate and lovely and does not feel like a resort at all, but rather a boutique hotel. The pool is nice and clean, always had plenty of lounge chairs available on the weekend and even though there were children, they were all well-behaved. The beach is lovely, not over-crowded and the water calm. We dined at both Hoku’s and Arancino’s - both are 5-star restaurants. Really exceptional service and food, coming from someone that lives in a big city and knows good food! Highly recommend Hoku’s for brunch. Arancino’s pre-fix has fantastic options. I cannot say enough good things about our stay. If/when we return to O’ahu, we will absolutely stay at The Kahala again.

It was our first time at The Kahana and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. All the staff members (people at the front desk, waiters, housekeeping, valet staff) are extremely friendly and very professional. Our room was quite roomy, well appointed and had a covered lanai with comfy chairs. The ocean view from our 5th floor room was a little disappointing as we overlooked the roof of the lobby to the left and the top floor of the parking garage to the right before seeing the ocean. The view from a higher floor room is probably better. The bathroom had a His and Hers sink as well as His and Hers closets and drawers. Also a Toto washlet, a bathtub and separate walk-in shower, however, the handheld shower head doesn't really belong in a luxury hotel of this category. When traveling through Japan last year we noticed a lot of the hotel showers have temperature controlled showers with both, a rain shower and a handheld shower head. Something to consider. Turn down service was great, it also included fresh ice in the ice bucket as there are no ice and vending machines on the floor. A good supply of bottled water is provided daily as is coffee and tea. The breakfast buffet was included with our Costco package and boy, they have one of the best breakfast buffets we've ever had! A large variety of breads, juices, fruits, smoked salmon, prosciutto, 5 warm breakfast items, Japanese breakfast items and an omelet station. Breakfast is in the Plumeria restaurant which also has a beautiful lanai overlooking the ocean. If you happen to be there on a Friday or Saturday, don't miss the Seafood Buffet. A cornucopia of all kinds of seafood, sushi, sashimi, mini lobster rolls and for those craving some meat, they also served a delicious prime roast. Food and service at the Plumeria restaurant were outstanding. We had dinner once at the Seaside Grill where they serve salads, hamburgers and the like. Restaurant Hoku and the Veranda were closed for renovation during our stay.
